School Community Honors Ben Bader with Basketball Court Dedication

Rockwern Academy honored the life and legacy of alumnus Ben Bader (z”l) on Wednesday, May 13, dedicating the school’s basketball court in his memory following his passing in October 2025.

The dedication was made possible through the generosity of community donors. Rockwern Academy and Ben’s family and friends came together to create a meaningful tribute honoring the lasting impact he had on those around him and the community that helped shape him.

During the ceremony, the court was officially dedicated, and a commemorative plaque was unveiled outside the gym alongside Ben’s retired #11 jersey.

Friends, family, students, alumni, faculty, community members, and donors gathered to celebrate Ben’s life, sharing memories of his time at Rockwern and as a member of the Rockwern Lions basketball team. Throughout the evening, stories reflected Ben’s kindness, character, and the enduring relationships formed within the Rockwern community – connections that continue long after students leave the school’s halls.

“We’re deeply honored that Ben’s family and friends chose to celebrate his legacy here at Rockwern Academy,” said Rabbi Laura Baum, Head of School. “We strive not only to provide an excellent education, but also to foster a sense of community that remains with our students throughout their lives. The dedication ceremony was a powerful reflection of that – seeing friends reconnecting to support one another and, in Ben’s memory, even shooting a few hoops together on his court.”

Rockwern Academy will continue to honor Ben Bader’s legacy through the newly dedicated court and other initiatives established in his memory. To learn more, please click here.
