2026 AJC Community Service Award
**Jim and Meredith Friedman, and Kathy and Louis Claybon to be honored with
the 2026 American Jewish Committee (AJC) Community Service Award**.
Nearly 48 years ago, Justin Friedman received the American Jewish Committee’s
Human Rights Medallion in recognition of his dedication to building
understanding between Jewish and non-Jewish communities, his leadership as
President of the Cincinnati Chapter of AJC, and his involvement in numerous
organizations. Together, Justin and his wife, Frances, established a family
tradition of community service that has spanned generations. Today, that
legacy lives through his children, Jim and Meredith Friedman, and Kathy and
Louis Claybon, whose collective leadership and contributions to Jewish life
and the Greater Cincinnati community are being recognized with the 2026 AJC
Community Service Award. Above all else, family is the guiding principle for
Meredith, Jim, Kathy, and Louis. They all grew up with large, nurturing
extended families that regularly celebrated life cycle and holiday occasions
together. They have passed that utmost respect for family cohesiveness on to
their children and now to their grandchildren with the hope they will continue
these sacred values for generations to follow.
