Jewish members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies marched in the 2026 Cincinnati Pride parade on June 27. The Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and Temple Sholom both had contingents in the parade.
Traditionally progressive spaces like Pride parades have been difficult at times for members of the Jewish community. In 2024, two Jewish Cincinnati Pride board members were forced to resign after a pressure campaign from activists that included threats of violence and harassment.
At the San Francisco trans march, Scott Wiener, a gay and Jewish congressional candidate, was forced out of the march by antisemitic protestors accusing him of being a baby killer.
This year at Cincinnati Pride, a drag performer marched in the parade and performed dressed in what could be described as an Uncle Sam Hitler drag that featured a swastika armband. Their performance featured a sign that read “Zionism Has No Place at Pride.”
According to the Cincinnati Pride website, all performers have to submit and be accepted to perform. Cincy Jewfolk has reached out to Cincinnati Pride Organizers for comment.
Despite the challenges, the Jewish community still showed up at Pride this year to express their identities and to support themselves and others.
