**Laura Yares** is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Religious
Studies at Michigan State University. She is the author of _Jewish Sunday
Schools: Teaching Religion in Nineteenth Century America, _which was a
finalist for a National Jewish book award in 2023. Her second book, a
contemporary ethnographic study of Jewish learning in cultural arts contexts,
will be published with NYU Press in 2025.
