Jewish and Israeli Film Festival: Anne & Giado

Two actresses have made it to the final callbacks for the role of a lifetime:
to play Anne Frank in an upcoming staged production. But as the topic of
color-blind casting makes its way into the audition room, the controversial
question emerges: who is best suited to portray Anne Frank?

_ANNE _is a film that aims to explore the nuances within cultural
representation, in addition to the importance of why stories like Anne Frank’s
continue to be told. Is it more important to accurately “be” something, or to
accurately “represent” something? Is “authenticity” synonymous with
perception? And, as storytellers, how do we define the difference between
empathy and appropriation? These are the questions raised through the eyes of
two women both “right” for the role.

** _Giado – Holocaust in the Desert | Documentary Feature_**
For seven decades, Yosef Dadush concealed a private diary, securely locked
away in a closet at his home. Now, this documentary grants us the precious
opportunity to peer into the harrowing existence endured by the inmates of
Giado – a concentration camp situated in the heart of the Libyan Desert.
