For A Blessing Yoga – In Memory of Carmel Gat z”l
On Sunday, October 6, Adath Israel Sisterhood will host a community-wide yoga and meditation session in memory of Carmel Gat z”l, one of the hostages recently killed by Hamas.
Carmel, an occupational therapist from Tel Aviv, was visiting her family in Kibbutz Be’eri when she was taken during the October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas. Shortly after, the Conservative Movement paired congregations with individuals who were abducted, and Adath Israel Congregation was asked to pray for Carmel.
Many of the released hostages, especially the children, mentioned that Carmel, a yoga instructor, was instrumental in comforting them during their captivity; teaching them yoga and breathing exercises. The children were quoted as saying her attention and presence helped them survive.
Please watch this video to learn more about Carmel.
