Cincinnati Man Faces Charges of Placing Hidden Camera in Child’s Bedroom

A Cincinnati man is facing federal charges for allegedly placing cameras in children’s bedrooms and recording them in states of undress for years.

According to the FBI, David Mitsnefes, 32, placed hidden cameras inside a family’s home. He is facing charges of attempted sexual exploitation of children and possessing child sexual abuse material.

The first camera was found in 2021 when a family member noticed a power cord and a small camera aimed at a mirror.

Early investigations could not trace the camera to a specific individual, and although that camera was removed, more appeared. According to court documents, the family found hidden cameras in a teenager’s bedroom between 2021 and 2025.

According to the filed charges, Mitsnefes accessed the cameras via Wi-Fi and had access to the family’s Wi-Fi because he had repaired it in the past.

The evidence that led to Mitsnefes’ arrest emerged after he was captured on a doorbell camera entering the family’s home via a keypad while they were on vacation, and later accidentally recorded himself on a hidden camera inside the house. After police searched the home, they found several hidden cameras throughout the house.

Mitsnefes allegedly stole underwear from the victims’ bedrooms. He used WiFi to save videos of the victims in states of undress on his iPhone. Investigators searched Mitsnefes’ devices and found videos and images of the victims, as well as child sexual abuse videos obtained on the internet.

His arrest is part of a larger FBI initiative, ‘Operation Relentless Justice,’ which has resulted in nearly 300 child sex abuse arrests.
