On June 23, 2025, I felt so very lucky to be sitting amongst more than 500 people listening to the 12 stories told from the bima at Jewfolk, Inc’s most recent live storytelling show, Stories from the Tribe: Twin Cities.
It was an absolutely gorgeous night of Jewish storytelling!
This community gathered together to laugh, cry, and bear witness to this show, these storytellers, and these stories.
And our team is beyond excited to bring this magic to Cincinnati this fall!
The concept of Jewfolk, Inc.’s Stories from the Tribe live storytelling shows is very simple.
Together, a cast of 12 each tells their own true story of Jewish motherhood – whether that’s about their motherhood, their mom, their mother in law, or their Bubbe.
And when each of those stories is stitched to the next, the show tells all of our collective story about being – or having – a Jewish mother.
The stories cast include all of the ups and downs, highs and lows, laughs and tears that come with the real-life experience of Jewish moms in Cincinnati.
What it boils down to is this:
A bima, a microphone, and a story.
In this year’s Twin Cities show, the topics covered ranged from Brit Milah to B’Nai Mitzvah to – surprisingly perhaps – port a potties, and so very much more.
And the result left all of our hearts so very full.
That’s the magic we’re bringing to life in Cincinnati this fall.
Cincy Jewfolk’s Stories from the Tribe: Cincinnati will be a night to remember and I want to tell you about two ways you can get involved with this show today.
The first way to become a part of this show is this.
If reading this article tugs at you and you feel a story brewing inside your heart, click here to see how to submit your story to be considered for the show.
Everyone feels nervous to do this!
But honestly, why not you?
And the second way to be involved with this show is this.
I bet you know someone – perhaps many someones! – who should absolutely submit their story to be considered for casting in Stories from the Tribe: Cincinnati.
If that’s true, send them this article right now and tell them:
I believe in you!
From beginning to end, this show upholds one of Cincy Jewfolk’s core values: Storytelling, or Sipur Sipurim.
As an organization, we believe that we have a sacred obligation to link past and future by sharing the Jewish stories of today.
And that’s exactly what we’re going to do together in Cincinnati this fall!
Photographer Sydnee Bickett captured small moments at the Twin Cities show.
I want to share just a few of them with you so that you can have a glimpse of the kind of magic Cincy Jewfolk’s Stories from the Tribe is sure to be!
This is the emcee kicking off the show. Our show emcee’s job is twofold – she introduces each reader and she holds the audience’s hand from story to story.
This photo of our – very full and very engaged! – audience falling in love with the stories, the storytellers, and the show tells a story in itself!
Being a part of a storytelling show audience is so magical! Bearing witness to the stories and reacting to them together IS community, and it’s wonderful!
And after the show, the audience can’t wait to get to the storytellers and tell them which parts of their stories spoke to THEM. The magic continues well after the show!
Our Cincy Jewfolk team is beyond grateful to bring Stories to the Tribe to Cincinnati.
If you have any questions at all about how to get involved with this show, please reach out to cincyevents@jewfolk.com and we will email you right away.
