DESCRIPTION:_This program is only open to JCC members and 60 & Better members._ \nFamily relationships\, as well as friendships\, are becoming casualties of our\ntoxic\, polarized environment. Families and friends are having political\narguments\, avoiding each other\, or even cutting off lifelong relationships.\nAlthough the focus is on family relationships\, you can use the strategies in\nthis workshop with any loved one. You will laugh and have some fun in this\nworkshop. It will not be all serious. After all\, we all have quirky\nrelationships!\nSuccessfully “taming” our inner polarizer starts with recognizing our\ntendencies toward harmful generalizations about the other side. DESCRIPTION:_Open to JCC Members._ \nOur news sources impact how we see the world. As a result\, staying within our\nown media “echo chambers” may limit our understanding of complex issues and\ncontribute to polarization. The Walk a Mile in My News interactive seminar\nencourages us to respectfully “reach across the aisle” and get to know our\nfellow community members who may have different opinions and consume different\nnews sources. The _Walk a Mile in My News_ seminar is designed to explore the\nimpact of media choices\, media bias\, and its contribution to our current day\npolitical polarization. This interactive session will provide a brief history\nof the evolution of the media landscape\, bring awareness to the polarizing\neffects of media\, and offer insight and strategies in how to handle these\nconversations differently. Participants will better understand how media and\nsocial media actively contribute to polarization today\, explore potential bias\nin our own news sources\, interact in small groups engaging in respectful\ndiscussion and understand ways to engage with people who have different\npolitical perspectives. \nView event on Jlive: https://jlive.app/events/16377
