Glitter, Groggers, and Glam! A Drag Purim Spiel
Come celebrate Purim at the **country’s largest drag Purim spiel**! _elech_
is hosting our annual **Glitter, Groggers, and Glam** on **March 7th** at
Urban Artifact’s back room, Radio Artifact. There will be Hamentashen
(traditional cookies), a photo booth, noisemakers, and a costume contest! Come
dressed in your best Purim costume and be ready for an incredible time.
The Jewish Holiday of Purim commemorates the deliverance of Jews in ancient
Persia, as recounted in the Book of Esther. It features raucous parties, food
and drink, and costumed performers reenacting the biblical narrative.
Cincinnati’s LGBTQ+ Jews have reinterpreted this tradition to feature a
glamorous drag show, which organizers say speaks to the holiday’s theme:
_survival_.
FEATURING: Alexander Cameron, Landon Stripp, Rusty Pole, Sho Sho Zahav, and
Lady Phaedra!

Persian laws sentencing them to death. The story is told through the biblical
Book of Esther.

organizations show or read every year. When you hear the name Haman, you shout
and “BOO” loudly and make lots of noise.
_What is elech?_
elech is Cincinnati’s Queer Jewish Community that fosters belonging for
members of our community.
_Do I have to be Jewish?_
No! And we’re not a synagogue, and our leaders aren’t always rabbis.
_Do I have to be queer?_
Not necessarily. We’re a radically welcoming community, come as you are.
please be mindful of intentionally creating a safe and validating space for
queer people to practice jewishly, together.
